Hello Worshippers! It’s Taka and I’m gonna talk about my thoughts on Bara. For those who don’t know what is bara: bara is a doujinshi created by homosexual men for a homosexual audience. It emphasizes more of that masculine homoeroticism. It often has explicit sexual situations. It usually contrast with the term Yaoi, which is gay media made to appeal to women.
Well, Bara is one of the Yaoi genres I do certainly enjoy reading. I do like the realism that the authors put into the manga and I also like how hot and attractive characters are.
Bara was one of the first of the Yaoi genres I have read.
Now, the only problem I have with Bara is the fact that every single manga (I’ve read) has a sex scene. You’re probably like, “Oh, but Yaoi is suppose to have sex in it,” yeah, I get that, but I’m a person who likes to read Shounen Ai. Hardly does it ever show sex.
Thank you for this! I’m still a newbie for these genre, but I’m curious. Is there any yaoi or bara in novel format? I’m a lover of written word and if I could get my hands on 300+ pages of sweet and explicit action- I’ll be a happy camper. Can you advise?
