Basically, Shueisha’s official digital online store, Shonen Jump Plus, is selling all 22 Volumes of the original Manga’s Bunkoban (basically the director’s cut, special edition version that was heavily cleaned up) in a digital format, and with full color illustrations.
Dragon Ball, another Shueisha manga, has also received the full-color treatment and is being published in English by VIZ Media. If you’ve read that, then you know how stunning these color manga can be. So if you would like to see these get printed in Japan, spread the word! And if they are popular enough, maybe they will eventually get an English release as well. Who knows!
So I think it's finally time for us as a community to collaborate and do the translation of the best part of Yugioh, the full color manga, which has not received a translation for a year now. You'll need at least a progarm that can get the job done, Microsoft Paint works fine. Make sure in Paint you select a noticebale color for text and then insert the text which you'll type. Or something similar if you're using something that's not MS paint. Also the cards themselves we will not translate since the characters pretty much always say the name and effects of their cards. Also we will use the original Japanese names, and this includes the original names for the monsters as well. I know the Viz Media translation of the black and white chapters uses the original Japanese names for characters but uses the English names for the monsters. In this translation we won't do that, Osiris will be used instead of Slifer, etc. My goal is to recruit around 3 people who will do 1 page a day. Anyway if you're interested and you feel up to it, please comment below. Just say how many pages you can do in a day, it should be at least 1, then you should also include the page number you want to do for chapter 1. Then when your done with that page reply to your comment with a link to the page in the highest quality possible. I'll compile the pages into the entire chapter, and then i'll put a link to that chapter into another post that's the same as this one but for chapter 2. You'll each recieve a link to that post in a Reddit private message, after all the pages for chapter 1 have been sumitted, also page 1 will always be the first page of the chapter that has text and/or pictures. Cover or table of contents or blank pages don't count. For chapter 1, page 1 is the page that talks about the history of the shadow games, also if one of you guys says you'll do a page that's already being done by somebody else, i'll reply to your comment and say choose a different page. And pages 2 and 3 of Chapter 1 don't need translating. (We won't be translating chapter titles.) Also regarding font, I believe the best bet right now is to use Anime Ace, if any of you have a better idea please say so in the comments. I believe you can download that font here:
You also don't have to translate special effect sounds since I know the official translation of the full color DBZ manga left those as they were in Japanese. Also I will try to have the chapters posted on
Note: chapter 344, Transcend Game Part 1 was never made into full color or included in any Yugioh manga volume.
It should be noted that while the outfit shown above is shown as a white shirt and pink skirt, these colors appear to be a change made by the Bunkoban release, which release the entire manga in full color. During the original run of the manga, a handful of color pages showed Anzu’s outfit as instead a yellow shirt and red skirt. Here’s an example of the original outfit color from Duel 170 as it was originally shown in Weekly Shonen Jump compared to its Bunkoban recoloring.
Anyway, the anime started off the Battle City tournament with Anzu wearing her outfit from the manga with its original coloring, albeit with one very noticeable difference.
