Ultimate is all about survival, the difficulty spike from Elite to Ultimate is incredibly sharp, you really need to quite literally focus all your attention on staying alive. Nightblade has some amazing defensive abilities such as Pneumatic Burst, Shadow Dance, Elemental Awakening (For resists, dodge, healing, and movement), Ring of Steel, which mitigates incoming damage by stunning nearby mobs, and Blade Barrier, which is quite literally a 3 second invulnerability. Combine that with Wendigo Totem and the Mogdrogen's Pact skill tree and you have a defensive skill set able to survive Ultimate. Even then it can be frustratingly difficult to survive, largest crit I have been hit by was 7.1k by a Nemesis, and I sometimes die due to incredible spike damage, I've seriously gone from 10k hp to dead in half a second, and I have near maxed resits and ~1300 armor with 98% Armor Absorption.
If you intend to fight in melee, I strongly advice you to put 1 point in Blade Barrier, which gives you 3 seconds of invulnerability. With this, Wendigo Totem, Pneumatic Burst and a life potion, you can usually switch between them in many intense melee situations indefinitely.
