Well, although the stories in love manga may be rather limited in some cases, it’s generally more developed than that in a seinen manga; the ratio of sex to story is much lower. In addition the sex scenes are less graphic; the guys say more romantic things and they kiss a lot more. They also generally have women as their main characters, as opposed to seinen manga, which feature men as their main characters.

The sweet and romantic Jubunnoichi no Hanayome has continued to be wholesome (as far as sex and romance goes) as the latest volume of the manga has the male breeding the many female characters yet again, the emotions definitely running high as the sex even happens outside.

Sex is crucial to this dynamic, as sex for Haru and Isuzu is about intimacy, desire, and acceptance. Isuzu’s flashback to a post-coital moment with Haru is one of the most tender and romantic moments in the manga. This depiction of a sexual relationship with a balanced power dynamic has especially significant implications for Shigure and Akito, as they struggle to act on their genuine love for one another in the face of trauma, stubbornness, and fear.

Although there are stories that wouldn’t be out of place in a shojo manga (if you took away the sex scenes of course), some of them are very much non-shojo, for example the story below is about a woman that does product testing for dildos.
