Shoujo sect manga

Now, seeing as my previous review was a look into the more refreshingly realistic and genuine tale of Honey & Honey, I figured it’s time to turn 360 degrees and walk away towards the ridiculously fantastical and review a little manga called Shoujo Sect. Are you already sitting down? Well I promise after you read it, you won’t be able to stand up. (That is a joke to male readers of this review, female reviewers will most likely find it much easier to stand and go about their business after the conclusion of this review.)
Shoujo Sect is a yuri manga serialized in adult manga magazine Comic Megastore between June 17, 2003 and June 17 2005 by mangaka Ken Kurogane. Featuring main protagonists Shinobu Handa and Momoko Naitou, the story follows them and other characters in a revolving-door of yuri tales taking place in an all-girl academy. Of course there will be yuri things happening! To be honest, if you’re going to read this, it isn’t going to be for the plot, it’ll be for the plot. You know, PLOT. And while that can be fine and dandy on its own – nothing wrong with enjoying that type of stuff – whether or not it can replace interesting characters and a g story is another matter entirely.
I will give Shoujo Sect some points on one particular arc, in chapter 6. I won’t spoil it, but by the end I was thoroughly surprised and touched by the story. Very good stuff, and my favorite part of the whole manga. A deeper plot comes around by the second volume, focusing on the main couple, but as I said already, nothing to write home about and pretty forgettable. The sex scenes are good though. Fear of showing my fedora aside, that’s not enough to be someone terribly invested and interested in actual characters and story.
I don’t write reviews for things I don’t enjoy. I don’t like giving scores either, so I gave everything a 10, because I liked everything. In this review I’m simply going to give my opinion on Shoujo Sect.
Before reading Shoujo Sect in its entirety I had simply assumed it to be a rather shallow, lesbian hentai manga series. I probably felt this way because my only exposure to it was from editing the script for the two-episode OVA. This OVA had mediocre animation quality and an uninteresting story – but hey, the majority of people who watched it did so with their dicks whipped out,
Shoujo Sect is a yuri manga and consists of a collection of short events that occur in an all girl . Naito is the main character and is in every story. For the first couple of chapters, she just plays a sideline character or an observer in the the various happenings. Later on, she gets a more active role in the short stories. Honda is another very important recurring character. She pops up and even participates in several stories through out both volumes. Other than those two, a few others have roles in more than one arc.
