Manga 1

Currently reading the full Ichi the Killer story as of writing this. I read this before moving on to the full story. I am a big fan of older classical styles of manga illustrating, and this book has that fun comical style to the art. I enjoyed the character designs and storytelling. I have seen some say this contradicts the full story, but I don’t think it does, to be honest. This is a fun introduction to Ichi, but the real story also touches on his past life, much more brutally if I say. I would recommend any one read this before reading the full
Reads like there’s more content than in most manga
The art is quite good, especially with the monsters. The monster design is incredibly creepy and may even stick with you when you turn out for bed. Panel work can sometimes feel stiff, especially in the first chapter, and that might be attributed to the smaller size of the manga. The pages are quite jam-packed with dialogue and panels. The pro to this is there is more content to be had; it took me longer than usual to finish this manga, but the art could use some space to breath better.
The most important thing to remember about manga is there is something for everyone. Whether you like high school romantic comedies or high-fantasy epics, there is a manga for you.
As with any other form of narrative, manga can run the gamut from serious, heart-wrenching drama to silly, mindless fun. Most manga feature over-exaggerated situations, comedy, or art, as over-exaggeration is practically a staple of the brand.
