I think in the series she puts freckles on her face in order to make herself ugly so the guys stop pursuing her. So, like…..apparently the criteria for beauty is very specific? Cause after she does that the men are like EWWW gross. It's very weird.

Oh god, I couldn’t stomach this! I believe I tried reading the novel , I remember it’s novel equivalent and dropped so fast but it could’ve been a different series who’s name I forgot. Usually Chinese novels/manhwas are crazy on the misogyny it’s disgusting. When all the female characters in the story are rotten evil women/bitches jealous of the fl and out to ruin her , it becomes tiring

The women literally look exactly like normal women (no ears). Like one of the early antagonist lady at the beginning of the series is just a bit chubby and doesn't have delicate facial features of the lead (but apparently she is horrible to her mates), but I don't think the women in the series are inherently unattractive…..Like the all seem pretty normal to me and some match conventional beauty standards pretty well.

If all the women are considered unattractive doesn't that infer that there is something wrong with the men? If this is a heterosexual fantasy world wouldn't the residents of that world have developed a spectrum of beauty that is based on the people existing in that world?

An outsider with different ideas about beauty could come in and say all of the men are beautiful by their standard but wouldn't the people of that world have already sorted them into ugly, standard and pretty? A heterosexual women could walk away with an underwear model because he was considered ugly for having a six pack instead of an eight pack. And wouldn't the men choosing between "objectively ugly" women to woo have also started valuing women whose dorsal fins weren't
