Manhwa is a term used to describe comics and print cartoons that are produced in South Korea. The word is also used to refer to the form of visual art in which this style of comic appears. Manhwa, like manga, has seen increasing popularity in the United States and Canada. Manhwa is usually read from left to right like traditional Western books and comics, but can also be read from top to bottom, as many manhwas are published in traditional Korean format (a vertical book).
